About twice a year, we have the vet come out and work our cattle.  This time we were getting the calves ready for sale this month and doing pregnancy checks on the moms.   I missed helping and photographing the biggest...uh we can say fun?  I was still in the house while the men where running them in and getting ready to sort.  I missed any of the good shots of the 4 wheeler and horse work darnit.  With around 140 moms and just about as many babies, that gets pretty wild sometimes!  I did however catch a wonderful keepsake of my boys working along side their dad and grandpa.  They had it all under control so I just happily snapped away!  

I loved the lighting that day. Some may think a day like that would be too dark for good pictures, but I am partial to darker and moody photographs.  I just think it gives a bigger depth of emotions than light and airy photos.  And those have their place, but can you imagine all that mud and poo and dirty boots in a filmy pink filtered photo? Ha!  no ;)  

All in all it was a very successful day.  Everything went smoothly, no injuries (thank God), and better than expected percent of bred mamas! But even better than all that?  We got to spend the day with family doing what we love and teaching the next generation to love it too <3
